The season for these pests extends from March until October. While they are minor pollinators, they are nowhere near as beneficial as honeybees. When they bore holes into wood, they are not eating the wood, they are excavating a tunnel to lay eggs. While Carpenter Bees are solitary, with some species the mother and daughter will cohabit the same nest and divide the labor between them. Besides the unsightly holes and the mess they create from expelling the wood pulp and their waste, Woodpeckers seek out the grubs and in the process cause a LOT of damage to your trim, siding, and other wooden parts of your home.
