Beaver in a humane cage trap.

Beaver Trapping

While Beavers are very beneficial to our planet, they can be incredibly destructive to any property whether it is natural or undeveloped. Beavers can cause unbelievable amounts of damage to trees, and they can feed on a variety of species, such as aspen, cottonwood, willow, sweetgum, black gum, black cherry, tulip poplar, and pine, depending on availability. However, they can and will eat the leaves, twigs, and bark of most species of woody plants that grow near the water, as well as a wide variety of herbaceous and aquatic plants. If you are seeing signs of Beavers or you suspect there is activity, give us a call and we will help however we can! Our service area for Beaver trapping and control in North Georgia extends as far south as Alpharetta, Crabapple, Duluth, Johns Creek, Marietta, Milton, Roswell, and Suwanee then going as far north as Ball Ground, Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Ellijay, Gainesville, and Jasper.

Beavers will travel 100 yards or more from a pond or stream to get to cornfields, and other growing crops, where they cut the plants off at ground level and drag them back to the water. They eat parts of these plants and often use the remainder as construction material in the dam. The size and species of trees the beaver cuts vary from a 1-inch diameter softwood to a 6-foot hardwood. In most areas, beavers usually cut down trees up to about 10 inches and merely girdle or partially cut larger ones. Some beavers seem to like to girdle (remove bark) of large pines and sweetgums which can weaken and destroy the trees. An important factor about beavers is their territoriality. A colony generally consists of four to eight related beavers, who resist additions or outsiders to the colony or the pond. Young beavers are commonly displaced from the colony shortly after they become sexually mature, at about 2 years old. In our area of North Georgia, the Spring dispersal is around February or March. They often move to another area to begin a new pond and colony. However, some become solitary hermits inhabiting old abandoned ponds or farm ponds if available.

OUR BEAVER CONTROL SERVICES

There are a lot of factors that come into consideration for the price of our beaver trapping services:

  1.  Where are the beavers located?
  2. How big of a pond, lake or stream are we dealing with?
  3. What is the distance from where the trapper would park to the trapping location?
  4. Is the dam or lodge located on your property?
  5. Has anyone tried to trap the beavers in the past and failed?

All of these answers help us to get a better grasp of your beaver problem and the specific situation.

IF YOU GET NOTHING MORE OUT OF THIS PAGE: MAKE SURE WHICHEVER BEAVER TRAPPER YOU HIRE, THAT THEY CHECK THEIR TRAPS EVERY SINGLE DAY. 1) it is the law and, 2) it will educate the beavers to avoid the traps.

BEAVER INSPECTIONS

Typically, we can give a pretty good price range by asking questions over the phone.   When we are hired to trap, the Beaver Trapper will scout the property setting traps along the way. By the time he finishes, we will know the exact price based upon time and effort.

However, if you need a firm price, we can come out and perform an inspection.  There are fees associated with the time involved for this service, which includes locating where the activity is, possible dams & lodges. We can estimate the size of the colony and the effort that has to go into trapping. That helps us figure out a fair price for the trapping, lodge and dam destruction.

Speaking of dams… the last thing you want to do is destroy the dams before the beavers have been removed.

BUT we encourage you to explain as many details of what you are dealing with so we can give you a rough estimate over the phone.

BEAVER TRAPPING

We charge a flat rate trapping fee for all animals including Beaver.  Our beaver trapping jobs are always quoted in two-week time-frames! There is NO setup fee, NO per animal fee – simply call us. The trapping fee is all-inclusive: Up to ten (10) visits to set the traps, check the traps, and to remove the Beavers trapped.  Forewarning, it is the law in the State of Georgia that the traps are checked every single day. No exceptions. We have a 100% success rate of having the beaver problem resolved & completed within the estimated time of trapping.

BEAVER DAM REMOVAL SERVICES

Oftentimes beavers build more than one dam.  So it may not be just one dam that is causing the water level to be higher.  We will provide you with a quote to restore the natural water flow to the stream or river.  We spread the debris from the dam along the water to provide a natural shelter for aquatic animals and fish.
